WHAT IS THE POP-UP MĀKEKE?
It started with a bold idea that grew into a community.
The Pop-Up Mākeke is a centralized online marketplace that provides support for Hawai‘i’s small businesses. It has made a notable difference in the state’s economy during the first two seasons and to date has put $2 million dollars into the pockets of hundreds of Hawai‘i-based artisans and small businesses.
In April 2020, the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement (CNHA) created the Pop-Up Mākeke when the pandemic forced the cancellation of community events and temporary shutdowns of many local brick-and-mortar stores. We knew that many of Hawaiʻi's vendors depended on events and craft fairs as their main source of income, so CNHA set forward to build a virtual hub for over 300 Hawai‘i small business owners, artisans, and vendors to reach and sell to tens of thousands of customers.
With live shows broadcasted on television and Facebook live, we showcase the talent and unique products from our vendors directly into the homes of families around the world.

After two incredible seasons we are excited to announce that Season 3 of Pop-Up Mākeke is here! We've learned a lot over the last two seasons that have allowed us to make this year's Pop-Up the best one yet, and we're so excited to share with you the incredible Hawaiian vendors that we've cultivated this year!
