The founder of Mike's Huli Chicken grew up in Haleiwa and loves local foods, especially Huli chicken. He started his company in 2010 in Kahaluu to share unique local tastes.
Mike uses Kiawe wood and naturally flavored Hawaiian salts to create his delicious sauce and other condiments. The kiawe wood gives the chicken its unique smoked flavor. His success also goes beyond the local Hawaiian area. Mike was selected by Chef Alan Wong in 2013 for Chef's Feed for his Hawaiian-style menu with his Huli chicken.
He also become very successful worldwide as the brand, and Mike has been featured on DDD-Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives as well as the Travel Chanel, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan's food channels.
Mike's Huli Chicken has most recently created a chicken dippin' sauce that locals and mainland guests love. Their motto is simple: "Winna, winna, chicken dinna."
