These Melted Marine Debris LED Nightlights from Upcycle Hawaii are available at Pop-Up Mākeke and get their design from the fibers of ropes and nets, which are recovered during local beach cleanup efforts.
The selected cuts of rope are taken home before being washed and dried. The cleaned portions are then broken down into their individual fibers, which are melted together with post-consumer plastics to create a lightweight and durable material.
Each nightlight has its own unique look. The colors will match the photographs shown, but the pattern will vary for each individual nightlight. The shapes and textures will also vary due to the handmade method used.
