With two shades of pink added with aspects of silver lining, these colors are somewhat muted. The 14" focal section is made using Berry Lined Luster large round 6/0 glass beads in an Edo braiding Kumihimo technique (using Continuous Beaded Braids). The light pink stone beads provide a lovely texture in the transition in this design.
This 2023 new necklace lei design is setting the standard for so many other Kumihimo artists (once they catch up) and is a blend of two unique braiding techniques (Yatsu Edo and Kongo Gumi), but also two size glass beads (8/0 round and 6/0 round beads). The Silver Lined Rosaline Pink Seed Beads provide a lighter-toned canvas to use as a highlight of the outer edges of this unique design. A dark silver-toned acrylic magnetic end cap will keep this secure around your neck.
The necklace then exhibits two characteristics - the ends woven one bead at a time for a tight spiral, and the center weaving the cords as beads called Continuous Beaded Braiding (Edo Yatsu or beads as fiber) for a looser relaxed look and feel. This new design captures the essence of Aloha - and even better, it is a perfect gift for a friend or loved one! As a beautiful glass beaded lei, each necklace is handmade in Maui and involves meticulous attention to detail while braiding. The beaded necklace lei will endure forever, feel wonderful to wear, and require little to almost no care by using a clean, dry towel every few months to keep it dust-free and bright.
This beautiful hand-crafted style lei was made using hundreds of Japanese seed beads that are meticulously loaded onto multiple cords that are woven then together on a Japanese marudai braiding stand.
