Nenue, or Hawaiian Chub, is a reef fish endemic to the Hawaiian islands. Unlike their almost identical cousin, the Gray Chub, which can be found in many places around the world, Nenue tends to live in large schools and can be found in very turbulent water along reefs. They are very strong swimmers, darting back and forth through rough surf with ease. This amazing iʻa species is a local fisherman’s favorite to fry or eat sashimi style.
