    Koa Sympathy Greeting Card

I created this sympathy card with the hope that the silhouette of the koa leaves in the photo, along with the poetic beauty of the ‘ōlelo no’eau (Hawaiian proverb), would comfort those who have lost a loved one. “Kulu ka waimaka, uwē ka ‘ōpua” – The tears fall; the clouds weep. “When rain falls at the time of a person’s death or during his funeral, it is said, the gods mingle their tears with those of the mourners.” ~ Mary Kawena Pukui, ʻŌlelo Noʻeau (No. 1917). 5x7" single card with envelope. Blank inside. On the back of the card is a brief description of the image, where the photo was taken, and the Hawaiian-English translation. Photographed and printed on Maui.
